Karen's approach to teaching singing is friendly but professional. She believes everybody can sing, and everybody can learn to sing better. She has a Master's Degree in Pop Vocal Performance and is fully qualified as a Music Teacher. She teaches from beginner level through to advanced professionals. Being an accomplished piano player, Karen can accompany students easily, as well as using backing tracks of pop songs or musicals live from youtube for stylistic and repertoire training as part of the vocal coaching process.
Singing lessons can be taken in person in her Surrey teaching studio or from worldwide locations via Skype video.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE 
Karen is based in the artistic city of Adelaide, South Australia. She spent 15 years based in London, teaching and writing vocal courses for pop vocal schools Vocal-Tech (Tech Music Schools), West London University, and was the Head of vocals for The Academy of Music and Sound. She also runs her own courses, The Colours We Sing, encouraging awareness, relaxation, a sense of fun whilst helping personal development through exploring colour and the voice. Her musical influences come from an eclectic mix of artists such as Seal, KD Lang, David Hykes, Alanis Morissette, Tibetan chant, Kate Bush, Nitin Sawhney, Tori Amos, Fleetwood Mac, Jazz, Soul & Blues.

Karen writes, arranges, records and produces her own music.  She has a Masters Degree in pop vocal Performance (Dist.) and her new album Metamorphosis contains contemporary original songs with a cinematic, esoteric, soulful flavour. Her New Age album Healing Vibrations illustrates her versatile talent as a writer and healer and is a powerful mix of intuitive lyric, relaxing music and deep tones tuned to the spine.

With over 15 years experience as a voice teacher, performer and songwriter, Karen has written voice courses, run workshops, acted as a private tutor and tutor for the institutions such as: Vocal-Tech (Acton, London), Academy of  Music & Sound, (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Swindon, Exeter, Birmingham, Newcastle, Southampton) West London University, Stevie 'Vann' Lange's Ebony and Ivory school (Colindale, London), Kensington and Chelsea college, Hammersmith College. In Australia she taught in Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane.

LIVE & STUDIO EXPERIENCE
Karen has worked in many areas of the music industry. Her vocal style is distinctive but versatile, and she can sing in many different styles,  including:
 

  • pop, rock, jazz, musical theatre, new age, soul, disco, R&B, blues, experimental, dance, indie, light classical, choral, funk etc.
She has worked in bands, duos, as a solo performer in pubs, festivals, concert halls, outdoor events and theatres. She has been a support artist to various International acts.
